I was at a youth-weekend of Athletes in Action to take some pictures. I allways try to catch the atmosphere by taking some general photo’s. In addition I like to take some close-ups of people.

About that close-ups I often hear a reaction like: “I’m looking weird on that picture!” The people do not recognise themselves in what they see, they have the opinion that the photo does not match reality.

I could give a story about a human face, that it is not geometrical, that when you look in the mirror you allways mirrored image which, because of a-geomatricallity, is different than on the picture and therefor you see yourself different. But that was not what struck me.

What triggered me was: How do you look at yourself spiritually and what is the reflection physically?
I mean this: in the Bible I read that God has made humen being (Psalms 137:13). He even made you almost like Him (Psalm 8:5).

So when you look in the mirror what do you see? Your large nose, your very small ears or do you see a human being made by God. The Bible doesn’t tell you that this is all about spiritual facts, it is about you, who you are, how you look like.
So next time when you look at a picture of you, remember that it is a picture of a God made creature, created by God Allmighty. And perhaps the picture shows your crooked mouth. But I have the idea that when you look at that picture God is looking over your shoulder and sees the picture with a smile on His face and He thinks: “Look that one, what’s he having fun. Oh how much can I enjoy looking at him/her. I’m so glad I made you”

Look how beatifully God has made human being, made YOU!
